PSA Suspends All Soccer Activities
In compliance with the statewide executive order, PSA has suspended all soccer activities from December 12th, 2020 through January 4th, 2021.
PSA and Liberty FC to Merge
Pennsylvania Soccer Academy and Liberty FC are excited to announce the merger of their organizations in an endeavor to become the strongest premier youth soccer program in South Central Pennsylvania. The merger was carefully crafted with the focus and mission of developing excellence in all players on and off the field. Combining resources will enhance the player development environment and provide players the opportunity to be trained and compete at the highest level.
Pennsylvania Soccer Academy (PSA) was formed in 2008 to provide a regional teams (York, Lancaster and Harrisburg) for the best players in Central PA to come together. It recognizes for a team to compete at regional and national levels the team cannot be restricted by boundaries. PSA is home to approximately 300 players annually with experienced, qualified and licensed coaches as well as current and former middle, high school and collegiate coaches who focus on preparing players to compete at the high school level and beyond. PSA is a 501(C)(3) non-profit which allows the club to deliver high quality training with a low price point. PSA is excited to join forces as LFC shares the same vision and mission and will bring experienced and dedicated coaches and staff into the fold.
Liberty FC is a premier local youth soccer organization which has been serving York county since 2016. Liberty FC (LFC) began with one team and have grown to three very competitive teams over the years. LFC serves boys between the ages of 10 and 19 years. Their success over the last four years has increased as quickly as their numbers. Participation in several leagues and multiple tournaments each season has led to many Championship, Finalist, and Sportsmanship awards. Under the direction of their Coaching Manager, Victor Torres, their players are held to the highest standards and compete in top level competition. They are very excited to begin this next chapter in the LFC legacy.
We appreciate members across both organizations that have provided input throughout the merger of our two great clubs. We feel prepared to take this next step and are excited about uniting the elite player pool in South Central Pennsylvania.
PSA Tryout Update
Dear Soccer Families,
The health and safety of our families is our primary focus during this time. The COVID-19 situation is commanding attention throughout our country and world. We are not experts related to what is going on, but we do fall under the umbrella of organizations who are, be it our federal government, local government, the CDC, US Youth Soccer and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. All of these groups are working together, sharing information to make determinations on best practices to avoid unsubstantiated panic and offer intelligent advice to help keep our families safe and informed.
As we fall under their umbrellas, we are in regular communication with them to leverage their relationships and contacts in making the best decisions for PA Soccer Academy. We are following their advice and you can have confidence that we will abide by their recommendations related to our soccer programming.
We also support the fact you reserve the final right of responsibility for your family and can decide whether or not to send your player(s) to a potential supplemental tryout, training or games in light of the COVID-19 virus situation even when of our governing bodies have elected to open soccer activities back up.
As this situation is fluid, and information is changing rapidly and constantly, please check out our website and follow our Facebook page for the latest information. This will be the single best place to understand what PA Soccer Academy is doing and will help ensure the information going out is consistent.
With the south central region still under a stay at home order and with soccer activities still suspended, our tryouts will be suspended.
To alleviate the stress of not knowing if your player will have a team to play on in the fall or what team they will be on and not knowing if we will even be able to hold a club wide tryout this year due to the pandemic, PSA is suspending our 2020/2021 tryout. PSA will be forming teams through a variety of evaluation methods and every player, existing and new players, will be considered through these processes. The prospective coach for their age group will be in contact with you soon to discuss this further.
For new players interested in joining a PSA team, we will hold tryout sessions or invitational tryout sessions for those players only if restrictions are lifted and we are allowed to do so. These sessions are tentatively scheduled to take place on June 27th and June 28th. The prospective coach for their age group will also be in contact with you soon about these sessions.
If you would like your player to be considered for a team with PSA for the 2020/2021 seasonal year, you will need to register for free at: http://pasocceracademy.org/tryouts/
Please register your player(s) as soon as possible so we can have someone reach out to you to discuss the team, fees and address any other questions or concerns you may have.
If you have any questions prior to registering, you can reach out to the prospective coach by accessing their team page/email address at: http://pasocceracademy.org/teams/
PSA Waives 2020-2021 Tryout Fee
Due to the financial strain and uncertainty Covid-19 has caused to families across the Commonwealth and our Nation, Pennsylvania Soccer Academy has decided to waive tryout registration fees for the upcoming 2020/2021 seasonal year and will be issuing refunds to those who already registered and paid the fee (refunds will be processed in the next two weeks).
We know parents are struggling to balance work, home schooling, childcare and self-care while keeping worries – both your children’s and your own – under control. All of this coupled with soccer being suspended temporarily has likely put tryouts at the bottom of a long list of things that need attention. We want our soccer families to know that we will do anything we can to alleviate any stress and uncertainty as it relates to the current season and upcoming tryouts.
Like everything and everyone else, this crisis has forced us to become fluid in our planning. PSA has several plans in place if we are unable to hold tryouts on the dates we initially designated to hold them on and if alternate plans are impacted as well. We will not hold players accountable if they cannot attend the alternate dates and will make arrangements to ensure every player who is interested in trying out for a team with PSA is evaluated. Tryout dates and enacting our alternate plans will be guided by our ability to resume play. We will inform every registered player and our members of any changes to our tryout plans as they arise.
We hope the information that we could share cleared up questions, concerns and any uncertainties you may have had about tryouts. Please know that we are here to support our players, parents, coaches and all of our members anyway we can during these difficult times. If you have any questions please reach out.
Please stay safe and healthy.
PSA is Growing
PSA continues to grow! For the 2020 / 2021 season, we will be adding new girls teams at the U10 (birth year 2011), U12 (birth year 2009), and U13 (birth year 2008) age groups. In addition, we will be adding at least one new boys team at the U14 (birth year 2007) age group.
PSA Achieves Nonprofit Status
PSA is thrilled to announce that we have been designated a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization! Obtaining official tax-exempt status is a major milestone for PSA and will allow our club continued growth. We can now expand our fundraising activities and help more players follow their passion for the game while continuing to provide a premier club with even more affordable fees.
PSA is also looking forward to partnering with local businesses for sponsorships. This status will further broaden the organization’s access to resources and strengthen our ability to serve the local soccer community.
